Golfer's/Tennis Elbow
Golfer's elbow (medial epicondylitis) and tennis elbow (lateral epicondylitis) are both overuse injuries that cause pain and inflammation in the tendons of the elbow. Golfer's elbow affects the tendons on the inside of the elbow, while tennis elbow affects the tendons on the outside of the elbow.
Despite their names, these conditions are not limited to golfers or tennis players. They can be caused by any activity that repeatedly uses the forearm muscles.
Frozen Shoulder / Rotator Cuff
Frozen shoulder, also known as adhesive capsulitis, is a condition that causes stiffness and pain in the shoulder joint. The shoulder joint is a ball-and-socket joint that allows for a wide range of motion. In frozen shoulder, the capsule of connective tissue surrounding the shoulder joint thickens and tightens, restricting movement.
The exact cause of frozen shoulder is unknown, but it is thought to be related to inflammation of the shoulder joint.
Carpal Tunnel
Carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS) is a common neurological disorder that occurs when the median nerve, which runs from your forearm into the palm of your hand, becomes pressed or squeezed at the wrist. The carpal tunnel is a narrow passageway surrounded by bones and ligaments on the palm side of the hand. When the median nerve is compressed, symptoms can include numbness, tingling, and weakness in the hand and arm.
CTS is caused by pressure on the median nerve as it travels through the carpal tunnel.
Headaches & Migraines
A migraine is a type of headache that is often characterized by severe throbbing pain or a pulsing sensation, usually on one side of the head. It is often accompanied by nausea, vomiting, and extreme sensitivity to light and sound. Migraine attacks can last for hours to days, and the pain can be so bad that it interferes with your daily activities.
Sciatica / Piriformis / IT Band
Sciatica is a condition that causes pain, numbness, weakness, or tingling in the leg. It is caused by irritation or compression of the sciatic nerve, which is the longest and largest nerve in the body. The sciatic nerve runs from the lower back down the back of each leg, branching off into smaller nerves that control the muscles and provide sensation to the legs and feet.
Sciatica is most commonly caused by a herniated disk, which is a condition in which the soft cushion between the vertebrae in the spine leaks out and presses on the sciatic nerve.
Plantar fasciitis
Plantar fasciitis is a common condition that causes pain in the heel of the foot. It is caused by inflammation of the plantar fascia, a thick band of tissue that runs along the bottom of the foot and connects the heel bone to the toes.
Thoracic Outlet Syndrome
Thoracic outlet syndrome (TOS) is a condition that occurs when nerves, arteries, or veins in the thoracic outlet are compressed. The thoracic outlet is a narrow passageway between the collarbone, first rib, and muscles of the neck and upper chest.
